Hello bonjour and welcome to CJRO News on CJRO Radio. I'm Candice Vetter reporting from Embrun.

The Ontario Government has announced funding for several public French language schools. $15.2 million will fund a 268-student elementary school with 49 childcare spaces in Russell.

In eastern Ottawa the province announced $20.2 million for the French language Catholic school board for a new 412-student elementary school in the Leitrim area, and $2.4 million to add 92 spaces for students to the Notre-Dame-des-Champs elementary school.

More provincial funds are flowing to Eastern Ontario. On January 27 MPP Stephane Sarrazin attended at Russell Township Hall and announced over $6.3 million to pay for the half the costs of road improvements in Russell Township. Projects include turn lanes at St. Augustin and St. Thomas roads, and roundabouts at St. Guillaume and St. Pierre roads. These projects will include the reconstruction of the Route 300 corridor for future population growth.

In Russell Township residents can view the proposed Official Plan at an open house on February 12, at 6:00 p.m. at the Township Hall. Although the township states it is part of the public consultation process, the new official plan is expected to be approved at the following Council meeting.
