CRRRC request amendment to accept Ottawa's household garbage in Carlsbad Springs

French letter available here:

Letter received from Miller Waste System on March 21, 2024.

Interesting fact: New proposed facility will be in the new Carleton riding. Pierre Polievre, the leader of the Conservative party of Canada is planning to run again for this riding for the up-coming federal elections in 2025. See map below.

Dear Neighbour,

We hope this message finds you well. We wanted to update you on our plans regarding the Capital Region Resource Recovery Centre (CRRRC). As you may recall from our previous communication, the CRRRC is currently authorized to accept industrial, commercial, and institutional non-hazardous waste. That includes commercially-collected residential waste from apartment buildings. In response to the developing waste management challenges facing the City of Ottawa, as well as to assist with the business case for the facility, we are seeking approval from the province to add municipallycollected waste from single family residences to the categories of waste we are permitted to receive. It is important to note that if approved, this will not necessitate any modifications to the approved design or operation of the facility nor to the approved monitoring and environmental control measures. The service area, daily and annual waste receipt limits, and overall capacity of the facility will remain unchanged. We are hopeful that we can play a part in addressing of both the commercial and residential waste management needs of the City of Ottawa going forward. As a fully integrated waste recycling and disposal facility, we aim to contribute significantly to a comprehensive and sustainable waste management strategy. If you have any questions or concerns with respect to this application, please contact the undersigned at crrrccomments@millerwaste.ca. Your comments if any should be provided to the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks at wasteproposalcomments@ontario.ca by April 15, 2024.

Yours very truly,

Denis Goulet
